The stim session sensation is too strong or uncomfortable.Updated 2 months ago

If your stimulation feels too strong or uncomfortable, there could be a few reasons:

1. Stimulation intensity
You can adjust the intensity of the stimulation in the app at any point during your session. Don't worry, adjusting your stimulation to a more gentle intensity setting will still maintain the effectiveness of your nightly stimulation.

2. Skin creams, moisturizers, natural oils
Some creams and moisturizers are conductive and may prompt discomfort during sessions. Natural oils that collect over the day may also interfere with stimulation. For this reason, we recommend washing your forehead with water and full drying it to ensure your skin is clean before sessions.

3. Hair or particles may be interfering
Check the electrodes to ensure they are free from particles. Pull back your hair when placing the headband to make sure hair doesn't get stuck between the electrode and your skin.

4. Electrodes may not be making full contact
Gentle press the electrodes down against your skin to ensure full, flat contact. If you can feel the stimulation when you hold the electrodes down, but not when you let go, your headband may need adjusting. You want the headband to feel snug, but still comfortable. You may find positioning the back of the headband higher or lower on your head provides more consistent sensor and electrode contact.

5. Your electrodes have dried out
Whether you've used them or not, open electrodes should be replaced after every 3rd night, or before your 4th night. Between sessions, you can help preserve electrode quality by storing your headband on the charging base between sessions and gently pressing them against the base. If you notice particles on the electrodes or they feel dry, discard and replace them with a fresh pair.

6. A pre-existing skin condition
If you have a pre-existing skin condition or irritation near where the electrodes make contact, please stop using Somnee until the irritation fully clears.
